My name is Allison Hightower and I started ADHD Consulting to help parents learn how to help their children with ADD/ADHD. I have a Bachelor of Science in Education from Auburn University and Master of Science in Psychology and Counseling from Troy University. I taught school for eight years and during that time I had many ADHD students so I took it upon myself to seek knowledge and information on the subject so that I was better able to help those students. I wanted to be sure that I understood ADD/ADHD and that I had realistic expectations in order to be a part of the solutions and not the problem.
I left the classroom after eight years, but my quest for knowledge on the subject of ADD/ADHD did not stop because I have a child who is ADHD. Again, I wanted to be a part of the solutions and not the problem so I spent a tremendous amount of time researching and learning strategies to help my own child. I have been helping children either in the classroom or at home for the last twenty years, and now I would like to help you, the parent, learn to provide the positive support and guidance that will help your ADD/ADHD child be successful.
